Ambitious Support is a community-based service that provides integrated and intensive support to young people aged 16-25 with complex autism. Based at Barnet College in North London, the Ambitious Support team works closely with young people and their families to access a range of education, housing, enterprise and leisure opportunities in North London and surrounding areas.

We aim to support young people with complex autism to live with their families or in supported housing and to access recreation, leisure and employment opportunities in their own community. Ambitious Support believes every young person with autism has the right to make a positive contribution to their community.

Ambitious Support passed its first Care Quality Commission inspection on 15 January 2013. The inspection report is available to read on the Care Quality Commission website.

What we do

• We are registered with the Care Quality Commission to provide community-based services to people with a learning disability.
• We conduct quarterly person-centred review meetings for all service users.
• We provide intensive, specialist and cost-effective support to young people with complex autism and their families.
• We bring together a strong network of partner organisations including Barnet and Southgate College, offering young people a wide range of community-based learning, further education, employment and leisure opportunities.
• We are funded by a combination of local authority, health, social care and personalised budgets.
• We work in partnership with adult providers to ensure a smooth transition from our programme to long term community-based support.
• We help adult education and service providers to develop a service which can support young people with complex autism more effectively.
• We provide support and training to parents and carers of young people with complex autism.

Every young person we support will have a person-centred plan which guides the development and delivery of their support programme.
