Our response to the Budget 2024
Responding to the Government’s Autumn Budget 2024, Jolanta Lasota, Chief Executive of Ambitious about Autism, said:
“Every day we hear heartbreaking stories from autistic children and young people and their families about how problems in the SEND system are preventing them from going to school, learning new skills and preparing for the future.
“With a growing number of autistic pupils in the education system, it is essential they have the support and resources they need to achieve at school. The chancellor’s announcements today signal a significant investment in education, including an additional £1bn funding for the SEND system, which gives us hope for the future.
“We also welcome the announcement of investment in schemes to support those not in education, employment or training. Autistic people continue to face many barriers when trying to seek employment, but we know that given the right support and often very small adjustments, they can make a huge contribution to the workforce.
“We look forward to working alongside autistic children and young people, their families and the Government to ensure this funding leads to better outcomes for disabled children.”
