Paralympian Ade Adepitan kicks off Sports Relief at The Rise School
The athlete and television presenter joined pupils for a game of basketball – as the school gets ready to raise money in aid of Sport Relief to help change lives.
It is the second time pupils have welcomed Ade, following his visit in 2016 to officially open the school’s new building.
The Rise School is the first school to be set up by the Ambitious about Autism Schools Trust in September 2014. It is a special day school dedicated to educating pupils with autism aged 4 to 18.
Headteacher Sarah Roscoe, said: “We were thrilled to welcome Ade back to The Rise School – he’s an incredibly positive role model and our pupils really enjoyed playing basketball with him!
“Sport Relief supports some fantastic projects and everyone at our school is really looking forward to raising money to help others in the UK and abroad.”
Ade Adepitan, said: "It’s brilliant to return to the school to celebrate Sport Relief and see first-hand the progress pupils are making.
“There is a really supportive and inspiring learning environment at The Rise School that gives children with autism the chance to thrive and fulfil their potential."
