do you have a therapy dog who deserves a medal, we do his name is Dash & I'm hoping he lives forever as we couldn't do without him he is a JRT who is so patent & calm with our son Jared( ASD, ADHD,ODD, OCD ect). Jared cannot go to sleep unless Dash is with him, before we aloud this we had so many problems getting Jared into bed let alone to sleep(yes we use wieghted blankets) needless to say we still have our problems but they are much less due to this little wonder dog. who else has a wonder dog to make life easier

Lovely to hear that Dash is such a good companion for Jared! How long have you had him for? There is a charity called PAWS that trains dogs for young people with autism.

we have had him for about 3 1/2yrs now, he (Dash) was only 5months old when we lost our other son Luke (profound autistic disorder) & I think that Jared & dash built a srong bond becauce of it Dash just seems to know what Jared needs. we had another dog Jedda for Luke but sadly lost her about 1 yrs before Luke, she was trained by me and finished of a the guide dogs here in NSW Australia for therapy. I think we need more places like PAWS around to train dogs for our special children.

That's lovely to hear - we don't have a dog but my husband saw an autism dog on tv and said that maybe we should get one for Max when he is older - and this is a man who was bitten twice by a dog as a child and hates them! So it was a huge deal for him to say that. It's really nice to read stories of dogs that have changed childrens lives for the better Smile x

How an extraordinary dog rescued from Thailand's illegal meat trade performed a miracle for my son

    • Amanda Leask's son Kyle was born with cerebral palsy, brain damage and autism
    • She adopted a dog from a Thai rescue centre who she named Miracle
    • She believes Miracle saw a kindred spirit in her son. He was broken himself so he knew how to respond to this broken child...
