Hi from Carole

Thu 12 Mar 2009 5:41pm
I am late with my intro so many apologies for that. I am Carole Mum to three sons, two of them have a diagnosis of ASD. The eldest has failed rock start syndrome! I have a diverse sense of humour which keeps me going. My second son is now 21 years old and has AS. My youngest son is now 12 years old and has HFA. In 2000 I co-founded a group called Autism-in-Mind (AIM) which is a national campaign and support group manned solely by volunteers. and I am an ardent campaigner. At the moment I am an Advisory Council with the Autism and Education Trust and am also part of the External Reference Adult Autism Strategy Group (what a mouthful) But first and foremost I am a Mum and I do what I do because of my two sons.

Hi Carole, looks like you will be a valuable member here, welcome.  I'm Tom, six kids two with asd and I have that too. I can relate to doing what you do because of your children, I'm the same - guess we all are eh?

    Nice to meet you.

Nice to meet you to Tom. I think that parents need to keep pushing for change because if we don't know one else is going to. We have a vested interest and one which is worth fighting for.
