Hi. I'm new to this forum. I have  2 boys , one with ASD Jamie 7 yrs who has ASD and his younger brother is Oisin 4. He was diagnosed 3 yrs ago. We live in west cork Ireland . He attends a Unit attached to a mainstream school. He's very happy there . Goes to normal class half the time and into unit then other half. Came as a monumental shock initially but he's doing good now and we deal with it as best we can with help and intervention where possible. He's verbal but uses more basic language and communicates on a needs basis.. Starting to socialise more .

I've joined this forum for advice and information .

    Hi Linda

Welcome to the forum.   Glad that you found us.

Sounds like your son is well settled into a good educational setting which is half the battle at that age.   If there's anything in particular you want to chat about or seek some advice or tips on do let us know.  We would be happy to help if we can.

    Hi Linda, and welcome.

I'm glad Jamie is happy in school. It sounds like a good setting and it's good he is starting to socialise more.

Do ask about anything you need advice on. Hopefully we can point you in the right direction.

Hello Linda & welcome from me too. Smile

Autism. It's not a processing error. It's a different operating system.

Hello and welcome from me.  I have a son of 8 who has high functioning ASD.  As much as you may expect a diagnosis after the process has begun, it still comes as a shock.

I am pleased that he is settled so well at school.  Please let us know if you have any questions.
