Research participants needed-- Thinking in Autism study at Bath Uni, £10 Amazon voucher reimbursement + reasonable travel expenses covered
We are currently conducting a large scale study in the Centre for Applied Autism Research (CAAR) at the University of Bath on thinking patterns in people with autism. Therefore we are wondering whether any of our amazing people on here might be interested in participating. This research project is really the first of its kind which employs a novel thoughts-recording technique that can allow our researchers to look into people's thoughts more in-depth and also allow our participant to take something home for future uses. It looks into how content or forms of thoughts may be related to various aspects of well-being in people with autism.
The study has been approved by the University of Bath Department of Psychology Ethics Committee, and we strive to adhere strictly to relevant British Psychological Society (BPS) guidelines. Your data will be anonymised and kept strictly confidential. If published, they won't be identifiable to any individuals.
We are looking for participants aged 16 or above, with a diagnosis of any autism spectrum conditions, and have a smartphone.
The project entails filling in an online survey about your demographics and general health statuses, and then you will be invited to join us at the University of Bath for a 30~45 minutes long meeting with one of our researchers. In the meeting, we will discuss the thoughts recording techniques and offer you some opportunities to practice through various tasks to make sure you are comfortable. The technique is quick and relatively straightforward, only takes 30 seconds to a minute each time. You will then have five booklets to take home to fill in for five times (each time only takes 30s-1min) each day for five days. That way you can also get a feel of what it is like using the technique in daily life. After you finish your booklets, you can simply post them back to us using a free-post envelope we provide.
To thank our participant for their time and dedication, each participant will receive a £10 Amazon voucher in return. As there is some travel involved, we can also reimburse your travel expenses within a reasonable budget, which can also make this research meeting a little part of a nice day out in Bath, enjoying the Roman city and modern sunshine!
