I have an idea

Tue 30 Jan 2018 1:57pm

Hello everyone,

My son is 14 yo and on the autism spectrum, with speech delay.

Because of his limited communication skills, he finds it difficult to make friends, even if he loves people and is very sociable.

It is extremely difficult to make friends, and I know that he would love to meet and play with other children around his age. If there are patents who experience the same dilemma, please get in touch. If there are people who can give advice on the matter, it will bw much appreciated.

Anger issues...

Sun 23 Jul 2017 2:53pm

Hello again, I am having some problems with my anger, it's been like this for a long time...a lot of things can set it off and once it goes, THERE IS NO CONTROLLING IT!!! That is my problem, if it can't be controlled while I am actually angry... what can I do? Everyone just keeps telling me "control it" or step away from the situation,.... isn't easy especially when one of those things KEEPS following me wherever I go and intentally bugs me just so I would lose my temper (my sister) and when that happens, I shout, scream, throw a fit, the usual stuff...

Fitness trackers or mindfulness apps as an aid to fitness and wellbeing. Anyone with experience they'd like to share?

Thu 19 Jan 2017 6:22pm

My daughter's OT suggested getting a fitness tracker (eg FITBIT or similar) as a tool for encouraging her to be aware of her fitness, but also as a way of tracking her types of sleep, as she is often exhausted all day. (She is 26.) Having completed recently a training in Mindfulness to help combat constant anxiety we wondered about acquiring a Fitbit which also has breathing exercises as an option.  I have heard that some peole can be allergic to the straps, and also am aware that my daughter really doesn't cope with anything round her wrist for very long.

Fri 6 Jan 2017 9:51am

Hello all,

I'm Gabriella and I work at Ambitious about Autism. I thought you might be interested to read a daily summary of autism in the media. I'll post in this thread most Monday-Fridays.

Enjoy Smile
