Richard and Jaco: Life with Autism - BBC documentary

I loved this BBC documentary .

An intimate documentary in which actor Richard Mylan reflects on his experience of raising his son Jaco, who is on the autistic spectrum.

Challenging behaviour

Sat 8 Apr 2017 1:31pm

It has been a really long time since I've been on the site. I have come a very long way, and now have a paid job helping an 8 year old girl who almost certainly has autism, but the professionals around her are not keen on diagnosis as they see it as labelling.

I think diagnosis would be helpful, she is in a mainstream school and it would really help to explain some of her behaviours and difficulties to her classmates, at the very least. I have accepted this is unlikely to happen for the time being.

controversial pundit katie hopkins has autistic daughter and wonders if she too has autistic traits

Tue 28 Mar 2017 11:40am

...Hopkins has a daughter with autistic spectrum disorder (“She would describe me in facts: ‘My mum has a big nose; doesn’t wear pants; walks around the house naked’”) and Hopkins thinks she too may have traits of the condition...

Pervasive Development Disorder (PDD) not specified - information

Wed 15 Mar 2017 5:59pm

Hello, my son was diagnosed 2 years ago in France as being PDD not specific.  He has regular sessions of psychomotricity and we see a pedopsychatrist about 2 to 3 times a year, he has someone to help him in the classroom and in general he is making progress above all with his social skills.  However there is so much that my husband and I do not understand, firstly the diagnostic, we have understood that he is basically in the spectrum of autism and that he is affected lightly.

Jack's progress in T889

Wed 1 Mar 2017 4:34pm

Hello all,

I know I'm not updating as regularly as I used too, but work and study makes it difficult to get in the mood.

T889 "Problem Solving" has been a new kind of challenge for me, but worthwhile, I have learnt many ways to spot issues in situations. Also turn SpaceX's explosion last year into sucess for me.

But it has been a great opportunity to apply & expand my knowledge on launching rockets.

My TMA scores are 54%, 70% and 71%, giving me 65.5% OCAS. Very good for a master's level.

transfer to EHC

Thu 23 Feb 2017 5:12am

Hi , I haven't been onli e for quite some time . I have looked through information for transfer from SEN to EHC , I have taken it that all reports (professional) should be current . My son hasn't had an EP assessment since his SEN (4yrs ago) . He attebds a special school and has recent OT & SALT report from school . The school say that it's not necessary and U would need to request it from L/A . I think it quite important to have a relevant EP report , any advice please , is this a good idea to have a report or unnecessary ?
