The Autistic Adult Choir, a professional amateur choir,  is looking for new singers. If you are an autistic adult or young person, you are welcome to come along to one of our rehearsal sessions to meet the choir and its Choirmaster, and find out if the choir might be for you.

If you enjoy singing, or think that you might enjoy singing, please consider joining us. You will be singing in a non-judgemental supportive environment in which everyone can thrive and nobody is left out. All you need is a willingness to try music pieces which are unfamiliar.

Son starting school

Mon 9 Sep 2019 3:31pm

Hi All,

My first post!

My 5 year old son starts school tomorrow. We have a EHCP plan but could not find (in our opinon) a suitable school to choose. My wife and I could not completely agree and in the end we ran out of time and had to give the local authority our choice on the last day. So, we went with a mainstream school close to us which is apparently a really good school.....but probably not the right setting for our son.

Research study exploring social confidence.

Wed 19 Jul 2017 2:52pm

Hello,

My name is Jules and I am a trainee clinical psychologist at the University of Bath. I am conducting a survey which has been designed to explore whether some of the factors thought to influence social confidence in the wider population are equally relevant for people with autism. I am doing this to help psychologists understand how current therapies for social anxiety may need to be adapted to be more helpful for people with autism who wish to access them.

Hi everyone!

Wed 8 Feb 2017 12:52pm

Hi! My name is Alex I am currently a 4th year student at the university of Dundee studying psychology and english literature. I am really interested in autism and decided to do my dissertation on a topic I think is important, which is the transition between primary and secondary school for children with autism.

The study explores parental views of the support given to children with autism in primary and secondary schools.

Son undergoing diagnosis- what to expect?

Thu 10 Nov 2016 7:58am

Hi all.
I'm new on here. I have a son , 22 months, that has been screened and observed by a family member who is a Consultant psychologist. She suspects it's highly likely he has ASD.

The gp has referred him and we are now awaiting our first appointment. There seems to be a long wait.

In the meantime any tips on what to do to help bring on his communication? I'm trying a bit of signing and also using photos.

New to this

Thu 30 Jun 2016 5:15pm

Hi I like to introduce my self I'm Helen and I'm here to find out information and to talk to people who may have experience with an autistic child. My son Isaac is 2.5 years old and has autism I'm a mum of 4 and I have never dealt with something like this. I'm trying to get a diagnosis for Isaac but the system is so slow and I don't know where I'm upto and where it will all lead. If anybody is willing to talk to me I would appreciate it thanks.
