Hi my name's Clarie

My lovely 5 year-old son has just 'tentativly' been diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome.  He's just started in Year 1 in a Mainstream school.  He struggles with anything new - new places - new clothes.  He doesn't like big and noisy places and lots of people.  He loves people and is very friendly but has difficulties with friends and often finds them overwhelming.    He's also just started refusing to get into lifts!!!  He does struggle with anger issues and can be very bad tempered!!!

I am divorced with 2 children, my 14year old daughter has ASD, and my 11 year old son has ADHD and aspergers.  Both are in mainstream education although my daughter is statemented.

I feel I have spent most of my childrens lives banging my head against a brick wall, not because people don't want to help but because there is no funding for them!!!!!

Parents of Excluded Aspergers Teenager

Fri 21 Aug 2009 9:23am

We’re parents of a 14 going on 15 Aspergers child. He was permanently excluded in the last days of term after a couple of incidents. The school is clear that he would not have been excluded if he had not had a SEN.

How do we feel? Tearful, frightened for him and very angry. We are beginning the battle to get him back into education. He loves learning and needs to learn.

Just to say Hi !!

Not sure how much detail to give so forgive me if I go on too much, I do tend to once I get started!

I have 4 children in total- 14 yr old step son (aspergers),12 yr old daughter,10 yr old son and an almost 8yr old step son (diagnosed severly autistic aged 3 )

I discovered the joys of Autism 3 years ago when I became step mother and primary carer to my step sons, was a very steep learning curve having never had any dealings with autism or any special needs children.

Hello all, I live in Medway, Kent & have 2 sons Dylan (who is 4 & recently been diagnosed with ASD) & Jake (who is 6 months).

Dylan has very delayed speech for his age although recently he has been speaking more but he is still very behind for his age which is causing us panic as he is starting mainstream school in September.  We hope he communicates his needs to his teachers like he does to us at home.
