Understanding You, Discovering You
What is Understanding You, Discovering You?
Understanding You, Discovering You is a peer-support course to support autistic young people aged 16-25 in the transition to adulthood, post-diagnosis.
The course was co-designed with Ambitious about Autism’s Youth Network and National Services team, in partnership with academic partners, and clinical psychologists. The six-week online course is designed to help autistic young people understand autism, explore their autistic identity, develop goals, and equip them with resources, in a guided peer support group.
About the course
The pilot of the course is now complete. We are not leading any courses whilst we await the findings of a research study, called the Autism Transition to Adulthood Group (ATAG) study.
We are not sure at this time when we will lead the course again. To stay up to date, please sign up to our newsletter.
The ATAG study is helping us find out if Understanding You, Discovering You is effective in improving the wellbeing of autistic young people. We are working in partnership with the University of Bath, UCL, University of York and the National Autistic Society, along with members of our Youth Network.
The study is funded by the National Institute for Health and Care research (NIHR). If the study is successful, it will enable the course to be commissioned by the NHS so more autistic people can access post-diagnostic support. To find out more about the study, please visit the ATAG website.
