Race and racism

There is a lack of research about the experience of autistic people from ethnically diverse groups. But we know from research by the National Autistic Society that it can be even harder for children and young people from ethnically diverse backgrounds to get a diagnosis and access support.  

In our schools and college, we address the importance of diversity and identity. Issues of race can be very complex, and we know they can be challenging to understand, especially for children and young people with autism.  

Our articles, guides and easy-read resources have been led by those with ethnically diverse experiences and autism expertise to support young autistic people understand the issues around inclusion and diversity.
