Civil Service internship
An exciting three-week work experience opportunity in the Civil Service is being offered to 60 autistic young people, you must be:
- aged between 18 and 25 at the time of the internship
- achieved a minimum of 2 GCSE's (or equivalent) in English and Math at Grade 4-9 (or A*-C) or above.
About the Civil Service internship
The opportunity will provide you with the chance to experience the Civil Service first-hand, gaining insight into the workplace. As part of the experience, you will also be offered the opportunity to participate in developmental coaching sessions and other activities.
The Civil Service has a key role in supporting government to develop and implement its policies as effectively as possible, helping to bring innovative solutions to some of the biggest issues facing society. This experience will provide you with the opportunity to see what it is like to work inside this important organisation.

The programme may be offered in locations across the UK or online (working from home), you will be asked your availability for each location in your application form. Remuneration will be paid at £350 per week (before tax), travel and lunch will not be reimbursed.

Suitable applications are anonymised and shared with the Civil Service who match applications with appropriate internship roles available. After applying you will be invited to meet with the Ambitious about Autism team to discuss your application and preferences.

If you are successful in being chosen to take part in the internship you will be required to undertake security checks which will require, as a minimum, a current passport, DBS check and proof of your whereabouts (where you have lived) over the past three years.
Ambitious about Autism will be available to assist you with completing these checks, identify any workplace adjustments you may want to request and provide support throughout the internship.
