Careers Education Framework in your education setting
This is an exciting opportunity to take part in a free limited time course, which includes a four-hour training opportunity and a one hour follow-up session after three months. We aim to help you to deepen your understanding of careers education and its importance in the lives of autistic young people.
Overview of the training course
- Identify the key areas of difference; communication skills, social interaction and imagination, routine and sensory processing that need to be considered when working with autistic young people
- Explore the autistic experience, identifying strengths – the talents and skill sets autistic individuals can bring into the education and work environment; and challenges they may experience, but can overcome through good careers education
- Consider the specific challenges facing autistic young people in entering employment, including barriers with job finding and recruitment processes
- Explore methods and tools to adapt your information, advice, and guidance practice to meet the needs of autistic young people
- Understand when, where and how to utilise the careers education framework in your school/college
- Develop a SMART action plan for your school/college using the Careers Education Frameworks’ resources to address the gaps you have identified.
Follow-up session
The one hour follow up session will bring you together again with the attendees from your training course.
We ask that you bring along your SMART action plan and share collaboratively how the three-months of implementation and exploration have been in your setting since the training.
Please ensure you can commit to both training and the corresponding follow up session prior to booking.
